Privacy policy

TakeAway & Recycle is a family business in Kingston, not a marketing operation. The only personal information we hold is what you send us to get a quote, and the only thing it is ever used for is answering you.

Last updated: September 8, 2026

TakeAway & Recycle (takeawayandrecycle.ca) is owned and operated by Brock Cook in Kingston, Ontario. This policy explains what we collect through this website, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it. Our practices are governed by Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. What we collect

We only collect personal information you choose to give us. On this website that means the quote form, and nothing else. The form asks for:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address, which is optional
  • Whether the job is residential or commercial, and if commercial, what kind of business
  • The details of the job — what needs to go and where — in your own words
  • Any photos of the pile, the room or the job site you choose to attach

If you phone, text or email Brock directly instead, we hold whatever you tell us there for the same reason and for the same length of time.

2. What we use it for

One thing: contacting you about the quote you asked for, and doing the job if you hire us. That is the whole purpose, and there is no second one.

  • No marketing. Your phone number and email address are never used for newsletters, promotions or any other unsolicited contact.
  • No selling or renting. We do not sell, rent, trade or share your information with third-party marketers, lead brokers or anyone else.
  • No profiling. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not use your information to target advertising anywhere.

3. Analytics and tracking

This website carries no advertising pixels and no behavioural analytics. There is no Meta Pixel, no Google Analytics, and no third-party script following you between sites. You can check that yourself by viewing the page source.

We do use Google Search Console to see how the site is performing in search — which pages appear, which search terms bring people here, and whether anything is technically broken. Search Console reports anonymous, aggregated data only; it does not tell us who you are.

The site uses your browser's own local storage for nothing, and sets no tracking cookies of its own.

4. Who else touches your information

Only the infrastructure needed to get your message to Brock:

  • Netlify hosts this website and processes the quote form. Your submission — including any photos — is stored in our Netlify account and forwarded to us.
  • Google provides the email account the quote notifications arrive in, and the web font this site uses for its type.

Both are established providers with their own security obligations. Neither is given permission to use your information for their own purposes, and we do not share your details with anyone beyond them.

5. How long we keep it, and how it is protected

We keep your contact details for as long as it takes to answer your quote, and afterwards for as long as the working relationship lasts — a business on the weekly route stays on file because we invoice it every month. If you get a quote and decide not to go ahead, there is no reason to keep your details and they are deleted.

This site is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption, so what you type into the form is encrypted between your browser and our host. Photos you attach are shrunk in your own browser before they are sent, which means smaller uploads and less data in transit.

6. Your rights under PIPEDA

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong in it, or delete it entirely. Ask and we will do it — there is no form to fill in and no process to go through. You can also withdraw consent at any time, though that may mean we can no longer provide a service you have asked for.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy question, you can raise it with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

7. Changes to this policy

If what we collect or how we use it ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. We will not quietly start doing something this page says we do not do.

8. Contact

Privacy questions go to the same person who answers the phone about a garage cleanout:
